Norwich

Norwich (pronounced variously "Norritch", "Norridge") is a city in East Anglia, in Eastern England, and the regional administrative centre and county town of Norfolk. In effect the City expands a long way beyond its actual borough boundary, with large suburban areas on most sides, particularly Thorpe St. Andrew on the eastern side. The Parliamentary seats cross over into adjacent local government districts. The population for the Norwich Urban sub-area was 174,047 in 2001. History of Norwich

Norwich was a construct of the Anglo-Saxons, the Danes and the Normans. The word Norvic appears on coins minted during the reign of King Athelstan (early 10th century AD). The ancient city was already a thriving centre for trade and commerce in East Anglia when Swein Forkbeard the Viking destroyed it in 1004 AD. At the time of the Norman Conquest the city was one of the largest in England, and it continued to be a major centre for trade, especially wool. The River Wensum was a convenient exporting route to the sea. Climate in Norwich

Britain's weather is unpredictable, which explains why it is the Brits' favorite topic of conversation. London's temperature is generally mild, but may drop below freezing point for brief periods during the winter. November through February are characterized by cold weather and short days -- not ideal for visitors. In March and October, days are longer but it can still be cold. The best months to visit are the drier months from April to September. London's peak tourist season is during the warm months of July and August, when temperatures average under 20 degrees Celsius. Clothing in Norwich

Most locals take fashion seriously.The common attire for businessmen is a two or three-piece suit. Corporate women are uniformly dressed in dark colored skirts and blazers.
